HCN Summary of Office of Environment & Heritage Licensing Review As many of you may be aware, the first stage of the OEH Review was carried out mid 2018 with OEH calling for submissions to their Review document. The HCN responded and copies of the HCN submissions can be found in the Documents page of our website. The second stage saw representatives from bird, reptile, frog, and mammal groups along with animal welfare organisations, RSPCA, and pet shop industry all convene for Consultative Group meetings. These groups were then tasked with discussing the outcomes of all the submissions and negotiating the merits of the submissions, and the implementation of the proposed risk-based approach licensing reforms. Throughout the last half of 2018 the Consultative Groups continued to meet, and “Draft Record of Outcomes” documents were produced following each meeting. Copies of these can be downloaded from the Documents page. A brief summary of those meetings and the documents, along with additional comments, can be found here: |
